Who Are We?

The UA&P Center for Student Affairs (CSA) is the guardian of the student value chain. UA&P’s hallmark of values formation is promoted by CSA through the holistic formation of the student by the cultivation of university life outside the classroom as an effective complement to the academic course of study.

Our Core Values

The insistence on the quality of learning of the students outside the classroom.

Empathy with the students. A sensitivity to their needs and concerns balanced with a keen and focused eye towards their formation.

Teamwork with the students and external bodies when appropriate. Teamwork within CSA and with the other UA&P units, both administrative and academic – always.

Professionalism and work characterized by responsiveness, attention to detail, effective communication, pro-activity, project and group management techniques, and constant performance review.

Dynamism manifested in responsiveness to change, professional flexibility, and action grounded in reflection and study, research output, and an ardor for learning.

Integrity and Unity.

To achieve these aims, UA&P-CSA emphasizes the development of student affairs professionals honed in the capacity to recognize and optimize formative opportunities outside the classroom. They shall have the following core competencies:

Innovative pedagogical skills that take advantage of out-of-classroom learning opportunities

Grasp of educational and behavioral knowledge and skills that will optimize interpersonal, day-to-day, dealings with the students

Group management skills that support facilitation of group processes and broaden areas of coordination.

Project management skills allowing for the effective delivery of value-based results and the appropriate use of resources.

Holistic learning skills that will allow the UA&P student affairs professional to continue nurturing the openness to learning and a comprehensive grasp of man and the world.

Communication skills that support mature relations and broaden cooperation.
